Letter of Hope

This week’s reading assignment reminded me of what I always try to express in my writing: hope is never lost, we must hold on to it no matter what.

Dear Friend,

ree

I have something exciting to share about our village. Not long ago, a concrete foundation appeared in the field where we always played soccer, and now a whole building has started to rise there. The door was painted a bright lime green, and it looks so unusual compared to the other buildings around us. No one knows for sure what it will be, but of course the gossip has already started. My friend Hafsa is certain that Khan Sahib is behind it, since people always credit him with anything strange or new in our village. She thinks it will just be another one of his factories, but I can’t stop wondering if it could be something more helpful.

I keep hoping that maybe it will be a clinic. My mother’s back has been hurting, and it takes so much effort to get to the doctor in town. If we had a clinic nearby, it would make such a difference for so many families. Seema agrees with me, but Hafsa only scoffs. She says I’m too hopeful, but I don’t think it’s wrong to imagine something better for us.

For me, this new building feels like a mystery waiting to be solved. It makes me even more curious about the world, there’s always so much I don’t know, and I want to learn everything I can. Even if it does turn out to be another factory, I’ll keep hoping for a day when someone builds something here that truly helps our community.

Your friend,

Amal
