Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, I rode this!

I recently turned 14, and it was my best birthday yet. I feel this way every year, time that passes brings opportunity for bigger and better things. I celebrated with family visiting from out of the country, two of my crazy hilarious younger cousins, my aunt, and my uncle. Of course, my parents and the best older brother in the world, too. On my actual birthday, my brother and I were sick from the copious sugar intake and thrill-rides the younger cousins encouraged us to go on. It wasn’t a day of partying, but a day of rest. Despite feeling queasy beyond comprehension, the day was spent filled to the brim with love, compassion, and understanding. I am reminded each year how lucky I am to have a family who sees me, holding my thoughts and feelings close to their hearts, always being ready to change the pace and match my support needs. I grow more aware of the surplus of love I’m engulfed in and all of the progress I have made with their support each day. Birthdays cue reflection, appreciation, and growth.
